German Blog Update

April 30, 2009
Posted by: Butterman

The GP32x forums are down and we haven’t had any Panda updates in a good while, unrest is brewing. Fortunetly, ED has updated the german blog, while we don’t have a proper translation (if anybody would be kind enough to make one for us, that would be great). We’ve got a quick “free” translation. New translations, thanks polossatik, LastPucho and Lafazar .

“So now I have ask around and I have more info. The TV-out cable is almost finished. The batteries are going into mass production in a short while (running so far with no problems).

The transparent case was sent from the factory to Faith, but it arrived too late (After Faith left for South Korea). That’s why it’s not with Michael (Faith has to mail it on to Michael) . Michael opened an UPS account because the last time they were not able to send him directly the parts because he didn’t have one (UPS account).

He needs some time to work on the TV out cable then work on the small parts – foam for the speakers, microphone, etc. and work together with some coders on the last bits of the drivers (partly pay by us) so in the end phase can completely dedicate to the Pandora. So when the boards are finished, they will be almost production ready and the internals can be tested.

So, it looks like we’ve got another logistics problem and it won’t be resolved until monday. At least, that’s what I’m making out from this poor translation.

We’ve definetly got a logistics problem, that  won’t be solved until monday. It seems MWeston is working on various other components while we wait. Hopefully, he’s been looking for decent components, similar to how he’s handled the TV-out (gold plated, 10ft). Here’s hoping for gold-coated loudspeaker foam!

Thanks for the tip LastPucho.

  1. buuummmeeerrr. Oh well, kinda figured something else’d happen that’d cause a delay. Glad I got a dingoo to tide me over.

  2. “…so that, as soon as the boards, which also already are in production, can be tested directly on heart and kidneys:)”

hmm…whose heart and kidneys will be used to test the boards? Hey, I haven’t seen Quasist around in a while…

  3. LOL at the ‘tested directly on heart and kidneys’ part…utter nonsense, although it was probably hilarious in German. 🙂

  4. I knew people were saying they’d give an organ to have the pandora released already. I didn’t know they were serious.

  6. slightly more readable translation:

So, i’ve been asking around and got some information.

The TV out cable is almost ready, battery’s are already in mass production (and no problems so far), the transparant housing was unfortunatly send to Fatiuh therefore it is not yet with Michael ( Micheal who opend a UPS account for this reason, with the last sending they could not send it to Micheal seen he had no UPS account)

Fatih is until Monday in Seoul, he will send the housing then asap to Micheal using UPS express.

Micheal uses the time to finish the TV Out cable and getting some small stuff (foam material for the loudspeakers, microphones, etc.) . Also works together with some coders (payed by openpandora, so that once the hardware is finished you can get a complete working product) to finish the drivers. With these drivers the PCB’s , who are in production right now, can be 100% tested .

Since the error is with the mass production facility, we will try to persuade it to make the molds faster than planned .

  7. Does anyone know why Fatih received the clear case before Michael? Was it only because Michael still doesn’t have an UPS account or does Fatih have to do something with it before Michael gets it. I also thought the bits and pieces were coming from China not Korea so why is Fatih visiting Seoul. ???

  8. No problem at all.

My boss happens to speak German (he’s from Holland :)), so he kindly helped me translate this in a more accurate way… (not perfect though):

“So now I have ask around and I have more info. The TV-out cable is almost finished. The batteries are gonna be mass production in a short while (running so far with no problems).

The transparent case was sent from the factory to Faith, but it arrived too late. That’s why it’s not with Michael. Michael opened an UPS account becasue the last time they were not able to send him directly the parts because he didn’t have one (UPS account).

We will try to get them do the molds faster than planned.”

  9. What’s Fatih’s part in the Pandora project?

  10. *sigh* it’s no fun to be proven optimistic after thinking to be pessimistic again and again and again.

Once again, only two months to go. Yeaha.
Anyway, christmas is still possible, have Faith.

  11. Translation:

Sooo, I did some asking around and have more info now. TV-cable is practically done, batteries have been in mass production for a while now (runs without problems so far :)), the transparent case was sent to Fatih, sensibly, by the mass producing facility (which noticed it too late) – that’s why it’s not with Michael, yet (who has opened an UPS account for just this reason… since last time they could not send to him because he didn’t have a UPS account). Unfortunately Fatih is in Seoul till Monday, but he will then forward the case to Michael via UPS Express immediately.

Michael however is using the time to finish the TV Out cable and getting small parts (styrofoam for the speakers, microphones, etc.) and is working with some coders (partly paid by us, so they can concentrate on Pandora full-time in the final phase) on the last driver intricacies so that the boards, which are also already in production, can be tested immediately🙂

Since the mistake lies with the mass production facility we will try to convince them to make the molds faster than planned.

  12. not trying to be a pain but “Battery’s are already in mass production (and no problems so far), ” is the correct translation IMHO.

Micheal HAS a UPS account now (last time he did not, so he got one) but the factory did send it (wrongly) to Fatih instead of to Micheal.

  13. Wow… lots of translations already! Thanks a lot! Here’s another one as well (thanks to Kollau.de):

  14. Rob: He’s the guy all parts that should be send to MWeston get send to, first, to introduce delays. Then he takes them to congresses in turkey for another delay and sends them to Canada via pony-express. Like we wouldn’t have enough delays without.

  15. Heh, I will still will post mine:

I have been asking a little and gotten more info.
The TV-Out cable is almost ready, the batteries are already in mass production for a while without problems. The transparent housing was sent to Fatih by the mass productions workshop.(//correct?) Because of that they aren’t yet at Michael who opened an UPS account for that because last time they couldn’t send it due to lack of said account. Fatih is on the way to Seoul until monday but he will then send it to Michael who uses the free time to finish the TV Out cable, to get some details (foam material for the loudspeakers, microphones, etc.) and to work with the coders (who are partly being paid by us to work on the Pandora in the end phase(//when its out?) ) with adding the last finishing touches to the drivers so they could be throughly (// lol heart and kidneys) on the boards that are already in mass production.
Because the mistakes from here on will only be made by the mass productions workshop we will try to persuade them to make the molds even faster (//this last sentence might be wrong)

  16. Thats it, I am F5’ing 24/7 so I can be the first to post a translation if ED posts something in only german😛

  17. I tried to make a better translation. The long sentences are taken from original. I would have split them, but I wanted to translate them as close to the original as possible and as reformulated as needed.

So, I’ve asked a little and have more informations, now.

The TV-Out cable is near ready, the accumulators are in massproduction (working fine till now:)), the transparent case was stupidly send to Faith by the company (and they realized to late…) – thatfor, it’s still not at Michael’s (who had registered an UPS-account for this task, because they couldn’t send it directly to him, the last time, without an UPS-Account).
Faith is in Seoul till monday and will send the case to Micheal via UPS as soon as he arives.

Michael is using the current time to finish the TV-out cable, order small parts (like foam for speakers and microphones, etc) and is working with some coders (partly paid, so they can concentrate on the pandora in the endphase) on the last refinements of the drivers, so that, as soon as the boards, that are already in production, can be tested in every manner🙂

Because the factory made the misstake in this case, we will try to get them make the molds faster then planed…

  18. We should really have a translator “on staff”. Also, I think this blog needs to be wider, I’m going to have to talk to gruso when the forums come back up. (Or I find where I put his email address :-/).

  19. Commenter rush is probably faster Butterman.

  20. Sorry, I can’t translate a text from german to english😦
But if I found a interesting news I will write that somebody should translate it for my english friends🙂

    Sorry for the Google-Translation-English…

  21. Thanks a lot, Screeny! Every bit of help will be very, very appreciated by us, English speaking readers😀.

  22. oh sod it just release the thing in kit form, heck i’ll slap it together with a bit of masking tape!

  23. bla, I thought Fatih was the guy who blesses every part and thus releases the evil spirits that coinhabit all electronics. Makes much more sense(unless he is funding the project and needs them for his blurry youtube tupperware vids).

If I look at a globe I believe over the Pacific would be faster to Canada then west across Asia then across the Atlantic.🙂

  24. So many overpessimistic and -optimistic translations… I almost feel obliged to join the party…

  25. They could of just used google translate :P…..

  26. Think they did, initially.

And yes, the original German mentions both batteries and boards as already in production.

  27. Do German speaking people really refer to internal hardware components as the “heart and kidneys”? That’s awesome.

  28. “They could of just used google translate😛 …..”
    ^^
    – well if English speakers can’t tell their verbs from their prepositions, what hope has a computer???

    JT

  29. “Do German speaking people really refer to internal hardware components as the “heart and kidneys”? That’s awesome.”

LOL, no we don’t… this is just a phrase for testing something in detail. i guess it could be translated with “to put something to the acid test”.

  30. The “kidneys and heart” phrase originates in the bible.

  31. Psalm 7, 10. ‘Heart and reins’ in King James.

  32. >Yet another update showing off with things that have >ALMOST been done.

Hey, still better than no update at all, I guess…

  33. Hey, for giggles: Open up your browser’s search function and type in the word “almost”…

    Hilarious indeed!!
