EvilDragon has updated the official blog with a mixed bag of minor updates. First up is a video of Heroes of Might & Magic 2 running on Pandora, courtesy of Cpasjuste Pickle (oops). Some words from ED and a wee craft project follow.

Now onto the news: The battery production has started a while ago, the new transparent CNC case with some minor fixes is on the way to Michael. Sounds good, eh?

Well, there’s more: Some of the final PCBs have already been ordered. And mostly all parts for the mass production have arrived.

Sounds good? I think it does. Oh, and the first TV Out cable prototypes sould also arrive soon.
Also, if you want to do some paperwork at home and want to check out how big the battery will be… you can build yourself one.

Just download the wrapping here, print it (300dpi), cut it and fold it where the small lines are. Glue the overlapping edges… and you’re ready.
Feel free to post pictures of your batteries on the boards.

Now, that’s it for today, more news when the time comes 🙂

  1. Nothing really new here =/ Keymat layout?

  2. “Some of the final PCBs have already been ordered”

    “Well the boards are ordered”

  3. hmm i guess they are ordering the first 500 and will then have them properly made to check for any errors. if the errors are the boards then it will have been good foresight to not make all 4000.

  4. Pfft, forget about boards and plastic being ordered — the real news here is Heroes II! I dreamed of being able to play that on my Pandora, but didn’t think it would ever happen.

Now all we need is the original Diablo, and I’m set.

  5. Yippee! It seems that Pandora news now comes with Arts & Crafts! 😀

  7. if people have not already found it, the boards they ordered are the final 4000.

  8. Oh man, I’m so making one when I get home from work :O

  9. Diablo is already a given fact for the Pandora via the PS1 emulator.

  10. hehe battery papercraft 😀 yihaaaa!

  11. God that game looks boring!

  12. Hehe. It’s an old school classic. 😉

  13. Yep, Heroes of Might and Magic was (and still is) a great series of turn-based strategy games. And like any turn-based game… well, it has not “action” elements, like real-time games.

As for action games, well, we already have Quake 1, 2 and 3, which are great first person shooters!

But one of the best things about open source is that there is a flavor for everyone’s taste ;).

  14. Is it a port or running through DosBox?

  15. Nope, but it is running through an open source implementation of the Heroes of Might and Magic 2 engine, called FHeroes2. More info here (forum thread):

  16. WOW!

I used to play this game (well, the HOMMII game itself) for 12 hours straight back in 2002. A game definately worthy of a pandora version – something to play on long journeys or just when bored.

  18. I probably haven’t been paying attention, but have they run OpenArena and Nexuiz on the P yet? If not, in the words of past President Bill ‘Slick Willy’ Clinton, ‘Go Baby!’.

  19. Dude really sux at H2.

Keeps clicking the character to select him when he’s already selected, which only brings up the character screen again and again and again.

  20. “Dude” (aka Pickle, one of the scene’s more prolific game devs) had never played the game before this. Forum member Streak sent him a message asking if a port would be possible, and within hours he had a result. So give him a break. 😉
